G.R.A.D. TM-Hybrid .22 Blank Firing Knife / Gun

G.R.A.D. TM-Hybrid .22 Blank Firing Knife / Gun. In the late 1990’s, the Global Research and Development (G.R.A.D.) Company designed the world’s first production fixed blade knife that held a multi-shot firearm inside its grip. GRAD produced four knives, three of which contained working .22LR double-action revolvers and a fourth knife which was a .22 Short blank firing version. The knife in each case was a high quality 440C heat-treated high carbon stainless steel single edged fixed blade. Inside the grips lay the 6-shot cylinder. This model contains integral pins in each cylinder to allow only .22 Short blanks. In the lower half of the knife handle a spring-loader trigger lever could be pulled down and when depressed would fire the revolver. Grips are checkered plastic with a fold down trigger in the front strap and a takedown button on the butt which disengages the hinged front section to reveal the cylinder and working parts.

This is a very rare and sought-after item and less than 1000 were produced. This is brand new in its original box and un-fired together with the handbook and associated paperwork.

The non-gun version is the Model RS1N and is BATF-approved, meaning it is considered as a knife and not a firearm under the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms criteria. It is exempt from firearms restrictions.

There is a letter included from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) dated 28th September 2001 which states….”based on our examination of the submitted device we have determined that the sample blank firing knife gun can not be readily converted to fire conventional ammunition and it does not incorporate the frame or receiver of a firearm. Therefore it would not be a firearm as that term is defined in 18 U.S.C., section 921 (a) (3) , of the GCA”.
