SWEDISH WILD HEERBRUGG TM2 80CM COINCIDENCE OPTICAL RANGEFINDER.

The rangefinder is in excellent condition and is super heavy being made of cast brass. It has two tripods, one small, metal one which fits into the larger, wooden tripod. The principle is based on coincidence. Using a 80 cm baseline between one fixed and one moveable prism the distance to a target is derived from measuring the angle between two points. The two points are brought inline by rotating the prism on one end.

The target is used for calibrating the instrument. It is set up at least 100 m away from the instrument. The rangerfinder is then set to infinity. With the two targets 80 cm apart, the same as the baseline, the two vertical black stripes should be seen on top of each other.
