Lienhard Universal Matchapparat Mod. C

Lienhard Universal Matchapparat Mod. C

Lienhard Universal Matchapparat Mod. C. The Lienhard Universal Matchapparat is a famous Swiss-designed sub-calibre conversion system (Einstecklauf) developed by Walter Lienhard. It allows shooters to convert full-bore Swiss military firearms to fire inexpensive, low-power 4mm indoor round ball ammunition (Rundkugelmunition) for target practice.

First introduced in the early 1900s, these kits were designed so Swiss soldiers and marksmen could practice shooting their service rifles and pistols right inside their own homes or living rooms without the noise or danger of full-power ammunition.

Key Features of the Lienhard System

• Sub-Caliber Conversion: It uses a thin insert barrel (Einstecklauf) chambered for 4mm ammunition that slides into the original firearm’s barrel.
• No Permanent Modifications: The system functions purely as an drop-in accessory. The host firearm remains completely unchanged and can easily be reverted to fire standard military ammunition.
• Model Variants:
  • Modell G (Gewehr): Designed for Swiss military long guns, specifically the Schmidt-Rubin rifles and K11/K31 carbines (Karabiner).
  • Modell P (Pistole): Designed for Swiss service handguns, such as the Luger (Ordonnanzpistole) and early SIG pistols.
  • Modell C: Combined pistol and rifle system
