WW2 FACTORY CODED NO4 LEE ENFIELD CLEANING KIT. This is a ‘B.1. SM.6A Container Cleaning Kit Rifle Filled Mk.I.’. It consists of a green painted steel tin containing a MkV oiler, a pullthrough with steel weight, a brush, two pieces of gauze and a short length of flannelette 4X2. These are all the bits and bobs needed to clean the Lee Enfield rifle and of course most other .303 small arms. These are often referred to as ‘Jungle Carbine cleaning kits’, but they are general weapons cleaning kits. This kit was introduced in 1945 although most are later and undated. This one is dated 1946 so is early production.
